|Xerox DocuMate 3115 Receives PC Magazine Editors’ Choice Award and “Highly Recommended” Rating from BLI
|June 14, 2011
PLEASANTON, Calif. -- Xerox Corporation today announced the XeroxDocuMate® 3115 is the recipient of two awards from PCMag.com and Buyer's Laboratory, Inc. (BLI).
According to the PCMag.com review, published on May 4, 2011, "the DocuMate 3115 is easy to recommend as Editors' Choice. It offers a combination of hardware and software that leaves some more expensive personal desktop scanners in the dust. And that's even before you add in any extra points you might give it if you want to take advantage of its portability even occasionally."
PCMag.com also scored the DocuMate 3115 high on OCR accuracy and the editor emphasized that it recognized fonts at 10 point without a mistake. "It even did well as a business-card scanner, recognizing and parsing the data from more than half the cards in our test set without a mistake, and making only one or two mistakes each on all but one of the rest."
Xerox DocuMate 3115 Dials Up the Ease of Use
Winner of an "Outstanding Achievement" award for "Outstanding Control Panel Design," the BLI review noted that the Xerox DocuMate 3115 "offers users the ability to choose from up to six one-touch scan profiles by turning a dial on the control panel to the desired number. Most others tested either offer a generic Scan hard key, or nothing at all, forcing users to make selections from the driver. Eliminating that extra step provides DocuMate 3115 users with more flexibility."
"The DocuMate 3115's easy-to-use design provides users with quick and easy access to the unit's scan profiles, to save time and increase productivity," said BLI Test Technician Joe Ellerman. "It's amazing how one small modification can make such a difference."
The XeroxDocuMate 3115 is a mobile duplex color scanner plus docking station developed with dual platform support for Windows® and Mac operating systems. It has a 20-page automatic document feeder (ADF) and scans at 15 ppm/30 ipm. When undocked, the scanner can function through USB- or wall-power as a sheetfed scanner. The front feed slot accepts documents from letter/legal/A4 size to photos, receipts and plastic ID cards. Powered by Visioneer OneTouch® technology, the scanner allows users to scan to the "destination" of their choice by pressing a single button, eliminating multiple steps usually required to save scanned documents in popular file formats.
Priced at $399.99 U.S. list price the Xerox DocuMate 3115 comes complete with an ADF equipped docking station and is available immediately through retail and online channel partners and major resellers. The Xerox DocuMate 3115 is also available as an undocked scanner for $349.99, and the docking station can be purchased separately for only $99.99. Configured as a dual platform product, the Xerox DocuMate 3115 bundled software and drivers support Windows 7, Vista, and XP, as well as Mac OS X 10.4 and above including Snow Leopard.
